The Actual Once Upon a Mattress

Once Upon a Mattress finally happened!
After being snowed out last Thursday, the show went on Friday night and Saturday at 1 and 7.
It went really well. People knew their lines and songs and it was beautiful!
This week, if you just so happen to be an Oakhurstian or close to it, the show will play again tomorrow at 7 and Saturday at 7. Tickets are 6 dollars for students and 8 dollars for adults.
The show is based loosely on princess and the pea and it is wonderful.
Princess Winnifred (Aubrey) and Knights in "Shy"
Prince Dauntless, Jester and King Sextimus before "Man to Man Talk"
In a land far far away, many moons ago, there was a kingdom where no one can get married until the Prince does. Aubrey Scott, who plays the lead role, Princess Winnifred, is a princess from the swamps who arrives at the kingdom to try for Prince Dauntless's hand in marriage. Prince Dauntless, played by Dakota Stump, wants to get married, but his over-bearing mother, Queen Aggravain (Kazia Hart), doesn't want him to. She and her side kick, the Wizard (Erica Grant), think up tests that are impossible to pass so as to fail every princess suing for Dauntless's hand. When Winniefred shows up, the Queen and Wizard try to think of a test that Winnifred will be sure to fail, a sensitivity test! It is therefore up to the mute King Sextimus (Alex Ratchford), The Minstrel (Mary Gomez), Jester (Natalie Neff...Me!), Lady Larken (Lacey Smith) and Sir Harry (Evan Ewert) to find out what the test is and make sure Fred passes so that the whole kingdom and expectant Lady Larken can get married and live happily ever after!

Garden part 2, Sadies with Dillon and Mamasita's Birthday

Needin' some weedin'
(Rascal's on my shoulder)
Yesterday,
Weeding
Filling up a wheelbarrow with weedy compost!
I cleaned up the community garden. Rascal helped, of course.  Mostly, he just ran around the garden, only to come back and take a nap inside of my shirt against my tummy. At one point in time, my good friend Briana (or, grandma) came and helped me. We weeded all the boxes (except that we left the cilantro and parsley we discovered in two of the boxes) and called it a day.
weedin'
Last box! (Rascal's the bump in my shirt)
Awww... Dillon!
Later, I went to Sadie's with my BFF Dillon.
Best. Dance. Ever.
Dillon and I dressed as "Team Zissou" and it was sweet.
We danced like crazy people to all the terrible music and took an awesome photo.
I have to take my hat off to him, it was a most wonderful night!

And today,
It was Mamasita's birthday!
Or, Emily Vigodoa, my AIM leader mama :)
Actually, her birthday is tomorrow.
So some of her friends and I went on a little hike by bass lake known as the flume trail.
We stopped about halfway through and ate a little lunch, then hiked back, drove back to church and sang her "Happy Birthday" and ate Carrot Cake.
Before we knew it, it was Sunday 6 and so, we joined the congregation and worshipped.

This weekend, simply put, was golden.
Rascal :)

No One's Getting Any...

So, the traveling musical group continued today.
OH!
And...I needed tap shoes for Very Soft Shoes (it makes sense...trust me) and so I went thrift shopping yesterday, and for one dollar, scored on tap shoes! Yay for Kidz Korner Thrift.
Yeah...I'm a bit creepy. But who isn't after they score such a great deal on tap shoes?
AND ALSO...
I got to utilize my special "18 powers" when my friend who was thrifting with me, Courtney, got a call from her mama asking her to buy cough syrup because she was sick. Courtney is only 17 and so when we went through self check out and we realized that we had to be 18 in order to purchase it, I got to use my super 18 powers. The man checking my license didn't seem so sure about me being 18, (and hey, who can blame him? I am only 4 foot 9...)but, nevertheless, I bought that cough syrup.
Ok, so, back to today. Where we toured Rivergold, Coarsegold and Wasuma k-8 and did our songs and dance and such.
Everything went smoothly. Kelci (my "father" in Very Soft Shoes) and I danced well at Rivergold. In Coarsegold, everything went well until Kelci's hat fell off and mid-singing sentence I laughed and had to quickly compose myself, I don't think anyone actually noticed, though. Haha :)
After Coarsegold school, we went to the actual town of Coarsegold and got lunch and such. I got to see my good friend, Brianna, working at Zander's Coffee and got to go thrifting. Everything went well up until we got back on the bus at 12, dove for a few minutes and realized...something was missing. That something was Brett,

and John

who we left at the market. We had to turn around and get them. They were not happy, but, it was hilarious.
We finally made it to Wasuma, played on the playground and did our show on a ridiculously small stage. The stage was made of tile and, if you don't know, tap shoes on tile are slippery. I almost ate it at the end of Very Soft Shoes due to tile-slippage, but I caught myself like a professional and all was good in the end.
Finally, FINALLY, we were DONE and Exhausted, like our dear friend Dakota, or, Prince Dauntless, who was so tuckered out he fell asleep on the way home.
And that is how the thin mint crumbles.

The Theatre Class (as gaga)

And again during one of the most terribly written plays ever, Distracted. (and I still wonder why our teacher thought it was great...)Also, notice the nice eyeliner on me...I got to be a super sexy emo girl named, guess what? Natalie.

That picture was missing Dillon, so, here he is:

We're going to Sadie's tomorrow night because we be besties or something like that. The theme is glow or something dumb like that, so, were dressing up like Team Zissou.

Very Soft Shoes

Today,
We, the theatre troupe of Yosemite High School, performed a preview of the spring musical Once Upon A Mattress.
We went to Oakhurst Elementary and Oak Creek Intermediate to strut our stuff.
For those of you who don't know, Once Upon a Mattress is a musical loosely based off of princess and the pea. No one in the kingdom may get married until prince Dauntless does. This has been ordered by evil Queen Aggravain who comes up with unfair tests with her side-kick, wizard Cardamon, to test princesses with when they come seeking Dauntless's hand in marriage. One day, an unconventional princess Winnifred shows up and turns the kingdom upside down as the Jester, King, the Minstrel, Lady Larken, Sir Harry and maidens and knights of the kingdom try to find out what Winnifred's test is so she can pass it, get married to Dauntless and allow everyone in the kingdom to get married as well.
It's actually entertaining.
We performed 4 songs from the musical including Opening for a Princess, Sensitivity, Very Soft Shoes and The Spanish Panic.
I am the Jester and I got to sing and dance to Very Soft Shoes :)
It was fun.
And now, tomorrow, day two of the show continues on at Rivergold, Coarsegold and Wasuma k-8.
To be continued...

Community Garden: Stage 1

So, I decided to work on this community garden that is located at this church called Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church.
It's a wreck because no one decided to take care of it, so... I decided to.
Plus, it makes for a great senior project. ;)
But...mostly, because I like plants and it makes me sad that it is...well...dead.
I'm excited and passionate about fixing this mess.
I'm going to restore.
I'm going to put all I've got into it.
If people don't like it, they better get out of the way, because this is happening
and it's not going to stop or slow down for anyone.
