Rascal

So, does my rat eat healthier than most Americans.
The answer to that, is yes.
The food I bought for my rat at the store doesn't contain everything that my little buddy needs.
So, I did some research and I found a great site that has a recipe for what to feed rats.
I did research on percentages of vitamins that rats need and her recipe works!
This is not the ridiculous Sue Bee's rat diet which is basically just cereal and breads.
It's called the Maple Mix and it's awesome.
True, it's expensive to purchase the vitamins, but after you get those, then you won't need to buy any for quite a while.
Consider it an investment.
Here's the site if you're curious:http://www.ratfanclub.org/diet.html

Ratskolnikov Julius

I got a rat.
Ratskolnikov is his name.
It's a play off of the name Raskolnikov from Crime and Punishment.
He is the most friendly rat I have ever encountered and I'm thrilled because he is my rat.
He is also the most picky rat.
So far, the only treat that he likes is cheerios.
I've tried cornflakes, apples, rice krispies and even a bit of a granola bar.
He only wants those damn cheerios.
I don't mind.
He eats them like doughnuts and it's adorable. :)
